Beth Orton Picture
Perhaps best described as a folk/electronica artist, Beth Ortonwas born in East Dereham, Norfolk, and moved to East London at age 14. Orton found success as a musician late, having been more interested in acting during her early career. She first gained notice in 1995 for her vocals on The Chemical Brothers' track "Alive Alone" and is well known for her collaboration (stemming from a relationship) with William Orbitin which she lends her voice for the Strange Cargoalbums. The collaboration with Orbit named SuperPinkyMandy, though of excellent sound, was only released in very limited numbers in Japan. Orton's first solo album, Trailer Park, was released in 1996.

Bobby Gentry Lyrics

Beth Orton

Blue and you lean on me
You know that you're crushing me
You're sulking and I can not breathe
You're sitted in the clouds
You're building a well cross the light
An unusual nightmare for me
Collecting dead rainbows
From puddles on my hills
Taken home to warm by the fire
The flower's in bloom
It will never expire
It's just coming round again
I'm tearing my heart from the seams
I keep tearing my heart on the seams
But I'll keep pushing you 'cause I know just where you've gone
Yeah I'll be pushing you till it's too far to get back home
Will put my soul on stride
'Cause at the speed of light
I can do what I like
Blue when you lean on me
You know that you're crushing me
You're sulking but still I can breathe
You're sitted in the clouds
You're building a well cross the light
Say by an unusual daydreaming way
I'm tearing my heart from the seams
I keep tearing my heart at the seams
But I keep pushing you 'cause I know just where you've gone
Yeah I'll keep pushing you till it's too far to get back home
Will put my soul on stride
'Cause at the speed of light
I can do what I like
Yeah I'll be loving you like it's all I've ever known
Yeah I'll be giving up till it's too far to get back home
I put my heart on stride
'Cause at the speed of light
I can be out of sight
Yeah I'll be loving you like it's all I've ever known
Yeah, I'll be loving you till it's too far to get back home
Will put my soul on stride
'Cause at the speed of light
I can do what I like...
Yeah yeah
